A Word from the Administrator, John Buckley

John-Buckley-Twin-Oaks-Rehab.jpgTwo years ago, Twin Oaks of Sweet Home learned through the Samaritan Health System that there was a particular need not being met: successful rehabilitation for those suffering with mild to moderate dementia. Once we learned this, we acted and provided indepth training to our staff in the “Best Friends” approach to treating seniors with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

I’m proud to say that our work and success to date has paid off. Now, we are the facility of choice for hospitals. We have established strong partnerships with Linn County Psychiatric Care and the State of Oregon, both of which, have helped us broadened our reach and the “good” we can provide to those in need and their families.

Our team embraces Avamere’s overall mission, “to enhance the life of every person we serve” by our actions and by the culture we have created. It’s a culture of respect that focuses squarely on meeting the needs of residents and constantly communicating team’s role and responsibility toward this goal.

As the Administrator, I like taking the 30,000 foot view and ensuring the right systems are in place for quality care. I work closely with my department heads to develop and support the staff. For example, our head of dietary has been with us for 12 years. She was formerly our housekeeper, but we saw her talent early on and developed it. Residents rave about her food, and she has become a role model for other facilities.

I encourage you to come in and tell us about your loved one and see the “good” work we are doing.

Sincerely,
John Buckley, Administrator
